Will Kleber
Formula:
FeTi6O11(OH)5
Structural formula: [Ti34+◻][Ti34+Fe3+]O11(OH)5
Colour:
Red-brown, orange, brown
Lustre:
Vitreous, Waxy
Specific Gravity:
3.28
Crystal System:
Monoclinic
Name:
Named for Wilhelm "Will" Kleber (15 December 1906 - 27 August 1970), a German mineralogist, crystallographer and petrologist, Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany. The mineral name was originally published without IMA approval, but the species was finally officially approved in 2012.
Isostructural with:
Chemically similar to 'Hydroxylian Pseudorutile'.

Product of the alteration of ilmenite.

The structure is described as a unit-cell scale intergrowth of two elements: (1) goethite-type M(2)O(OH), with M(2) = Ti, and (2) rutile-type M(1)O2. The intergrowth plane is parallel to (100).
