Qeqertarsuatsiaat (Fiskenæsset) is a small community located about 160 km S of Godthåb (Nuuk). More than 40 localities of sapphirine, six of them also with kornerupine, are known in the area (Petersen, Johnsen, & Jensen, 1980; Petersen & Secher, 1993).

The Fiskenæsset Complex is a metamorphosed, layered magmatic complex belonging to the Precambrian Shield of West Greenland.

Most of the minerals listed here are found in sapphirine-bearing rocks, but also minerals from quartz veins in granite are listed.
