A white earthy mineral shown to be "basaluminite" [felsöbányaite] was described from a small cavity in black shale, from a small roadside pit on the slopes of Moel Goedog.
Although the first recorded account of this mineral in Wales, more recent investigations into the post-mining mineralogy of Parys Mountain on Anglesey have now produced a second occurrence.

NB The name felsöbányaite, described by Kenngott in 1853, has priority over "basaluminite" which was named in 1948, but was subsequently found to be the same species.
