Cantiere Macei, Miniera di Capo Calamita (Miniera di Calamita), Capoliveri, Isola d'Elba, Livorno, Toscana, Italia

This big stope (60-280 m above sea level) is divided in two by the road Capoliveri-Calamita-Ripalti, Macei alto (= high) and Macei basso (= low); the latter is exhausted.

The orebody consists of magnetite covered by skarns, mainly hedenbergite; in one area the skarn is formed by andradite.
