The BAC intrudes the lower Permian Balikelik Formation, and its intrusion produced a 10โ€“30-m-wide hornfels zone along its northwestern margin. The Balikelik Formation consists of clastic, clasticโ€“carbonate, and carbonate rocks from bottom to top. Five magmatic lithologies have been identified within the BAC, namely magnetiteโ€“bearing gabbro, aegirine syenite, alkaline granite dikes, dolerite dikes, and aegirine pegmatite. The gabbro occurs as a stock with an exposed area of approximately 1โ€“2 km2 in the southeastern part of the complex. The BAC potentially hosts largeโ€“scale Nbโ€“Zrโ€“REE mineralization, with an average grade of 0.018% Nb2O5 and estimated Nbโ€“Ta reserves of approximately 10,000 tons. Geological mapping, trenching, and drilling results indicate that most of the ore bodies are 1โ€“5 m wide, extend for up to 2 km, trend nearly eastโ€“west, and dip northward. The Nbโ€“Zrโ€“REE mineralization is genetically linked to the lateโ€“stage alkaline granitic dikes and aegirineโ€“bearing pegmatite.
