How to watch UEFA Euro in Germany

ARD is an official broadcaster of the UEFA Euro 2028 in Germany, acquiring the rights to this tournament in January 2025. As a result, fans in Germany can watch select Euro 2028 games live for free on ARD, a public broadcaster.

The list of matches available on ARD includes the 2028 UEFA European Championship opener, semi-finals, and the final, as well as all games involving the German national team, should they qualify for the competition.

While ARD and fellow public broadcaster ZDF acquired the rights to Euro 2028 in its entirety, they sublicensed the rights to all 51 games to Deutsche Telekom in exchange for a sub-licensing deal for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. As a result, German viewers can watch 17 live games from Euro 2028 in the UK and Ireland on the free-to-air ARD.

ARD's Euro 2028 television coverage can be accessed on its free-to-air channels via digital terrestrial TV, cable, or satellite. Fans can also access ARD via ARD Audiothek, available on iOS, Android, and smart TVs.

Radio coverage is additionally available on the Sportschau app, the web, and Amazon Alexa. The Sportschau app is optimized for Apple’s CarPlay and Android Auto, making it easier to listen to live 2026 FIFA World Cup matches while in vehicles.

ORF has secured broadcast rights in Austria to UEFA Euro 2028 thanks to a sublicensing deal with ServusTV, the official European Championship rights holder in the country. Under this arrangement, the national public broadcaster will air nearly half of the tournament’s fixtures.

As a result, fans in Belgium can watch 25 out of the 51 Euro 2028 games live on ORF, including four out of eight round of 16 matches, two out of four quarter-finals, and one of the two semi-final fixtures. However, the Euro 2028 Final and opening game are exclusively available on ServusTV.

Furthermore, ORF viewers can watch select matches involving the Austrian national team, should they qualify. This includes their second group-stage fixture and Austria’s round of 16 tie if the team both qualify for the tournament and progress to the knockout stage. All other matches are available on ServusTV.

Austrian viewers can access the public broadcaster and its channels through a variety of TV providers for free, including terrestrial TV, third-party satellite, cable, and streaming television providers at no additional cost.

Throughout its history, the public broadcaster has partnered with third-party TV providers, including Magenta TV, LIWEST, and CANAL+. However, availability is subject to change, and viewers are advised to check with their TV provider for the latest information.

In addition, fans can watch live Austrian Cup games on ORF via the ORF ON app, the broadcaster’s streaming platform. The ORF ON app can be downloaded on smart TVs, smartphones, and tablets. Additionally, ORF ON, which replaced ORF-TVthek, provides a live TV service through its official website.

Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen (ZDF) holds the rights to the UEFA Euro 2028 in Germany. ZDF is set to broadcast a total of 17 live games free-to-air from the 2028 UEFA European Championship, scheduled to take place in the UK and Ireland. These 17 fixtures include the opening game, the semi-finals, the final, and all matches involving the German national team, should they qualify.

The public broadcaster acquired the rights to Euro 2028 in January 2025. This rights deal included all 51 matches from the tournament; however, ZDF and fellow public broadcaster ARD sub-licensed all 51 games to Deutsche Telekom while retaining the right to co-broadcast 34 fixtures (17 per broadcaster).

ZDF is free-to-air, meaning fans do not require a subscription to access its Euro 2028 coverage, though it may still be available on pay-TV providers at no additional cost. Furthermore, the ZDF app and its official website offer live streaming.
