A former Cr occurrence/prospect/mine located in the NE¼(?)SW¼ sec. 1, T17N, R10E, MDM, 0.8 km (0.5 mile) NW of Washington, along the E canyon wall of Poorman Creek, on National Forest land. Owned by Walter Niles, Fred Miller, & H. O. Kohler. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500/1,000 meters (2 MRDS files).

Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).

Workings include surface openings comprised of an open cut from 2 to 4 feet wide, 25 feet long and 4 feet deep, plus a pit 4 feet wide, 6 feet long and 5 feet deep (prospect).

The open cut was mined in 1917. The deposit yielded 24 long tons of ore containing about 52% Cr2O3. Niles made one report that 9 long tons of ore had been mined and stocked in 1918 and another that 5 tons had been shipped that year. Total production amounts to about 30 or 35 long tons of ore, most of which came from the ore body mined from the open cut.
