Several thousand specimens of Japanese law twin quartz, up to 25 cm large, were uncovered by the company Tropic Stone SARL, from June 2000 to February 2001 in a breccia complex, in the Andranotokana Massif, north of the village of Andilamena, north of Ambatondrazaka. The mineralization is linked to a hydrothermal activity associated with tectonics in a metamorphic context (Forner et al. 2001).

Specimens from this locality are often labelled with the locality "Andilamena" which is the name/center of the district where the specimens were found.

Locality spelled erroneously "Anohlamena" in Moore (2001).
