Arrowhead Prospect; O'Neill's Claim

An U occurrence/claim located 8 miles NW of Stevens Cabin.

Descriptions of Rossite and Metarossite were published by William F. Foshag and Frank L. Hess and published under the title of "Rossite and Metarossite; Two New Vanadium Vanadates from Colorado" in No. 2707.-Proceedings U. S. National Museum, Vol. 72, Art. 11, pages 1 - 12, printed by the United States Government Printing Office in 1927.

On page 1 Frank L. Hess under "Occurrence" states: "The deposit from which it came is on a claim belonging to M. E. O'Neil and Mr. O'Neill. I am indebted for his courtesy in allowing me to examine the deposit, to collect specimens, and for other specimens which he sent me later. At the left of the entrance to one of his prospect tunnels known as the Arrowhead was considerable amount of soft, dull brownish-red sandstone....." He mentions "it", because later work described in detail in the paper determined that there were two minerals, Rossite and its dehydration product Metarossite."
