Rare metal-bearing pegmatites, which have been mined for beryllium and lithium (main ores were beryl and spodumene) and are still worked for gems and lapidary material. They produce gem-quality beryl and also "purple jade", a dense impure variety of lepidolite, which is used for carving and as a decorative stone.

The exposed strata in the study area are mainly schists of the Upper Carboniferous Gandun Formation, which are in the relationship of intrusive and fault contact with the granite. The intrusive rocks are widely distributed in the mining area, and the intrusive rocks exposed are mainly early Middle Triassic biotite granite and late Middle Triassic granite. There are many pegmatite dykes in the area, including more than 160 ore-bearing pegmatite dykes, and so far, the study area is the only gemstone-grade deposit in Hami City that has been found. The No.1 and No.2 pegmatite dykes are the main ore dykes, and lithium and beryllium are mainly deposited in spodumene and beryl. The No.1 dyke is dominated by spodumene. This pegmatite dyke is prominent in the central part and occurs as a sizeable swollen body with a length of ∼ 100 m and a width of ∼ 35 m. The No.2 pegmatite dyke extends nearly NE-SW, with a total length of ∼ 210 m, and the length of the most swollen part of the dyke is ∼ 74 m, with a width of ∼ 23 m, and it gradually disappears towards the depth.
