Silver was first discovered on this property in 1904 and subsequently four major veins where developed and numerous lesser veins. The largest of these was Vein 73 otherwise known as the Meyer Vein. Total production for the property was about 30 million oz. of silver. The mine was shut down in 1968.
Note: The name Nipissing Mine was in the past used in a broad sense for all the properties owned by the Nipissing Mining Company. Thus some pictures labelled Nipissing mine are of other areas around Cobalt such as the Nipissing 404 property where the mills and offices were located. If you cannot determine where exactly a photo was taken or which property of the "Nipissing Mine" something came from it is best to put it here.
