How to watch Bundesliga in Germany

ARD has retained the rights to broadcast free-to-air Bundesliga highlights in Germany for the 2025-26 to 2028-29 seasons. With this four-year agreement, the public-service broadcaster showcases Saturday’s first airing of Bundesliga highlights on free TV. In addition, ARD also airs German top-flight highlights on Fridays and Sundays.

Saturday's Bundesliga highlights are available on "Sportschau," the long-standing show televised on ARD’s Das Erste channel. Fans can enjoy Sportschau through various platforms, including television, the web, and the Sportschau app, which can be downloaded from both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

Furthermore, ARD has also obtained the Bundesliga’s audio rights from 2025-26 to 2028-29 across three distinct platforms: radio, web, and mobile. This allows fans in Germany to listen to live Bundesliga matches on ARD via traditional radio as well as digital channels.

The audio coverage includes individual German top-flight fixtures and conferences covering several concurrent matches. ARD provides audio coverage for all Bundesliga games in full, which is accessible through ARD Audiothek, the Sportschau app, the web, and Amazon Alexa.

The Sportschau app is optimized for both Apple’s CarPlay and Android Auto, making it easier for Bundesliga fans to listen to live matches while on the go in a vehicle. Sportschau's live audio coverage begins 10 minutes before kick-off.

DAZN is showing live Bundesliga matches in Germany and other parts of the DACH region. DAZN’s Bundesliga live streaming on multiple devices also covers Austria and Switzerland and includes all Sunday matches exclusively. Despite Sky being behind the Bundesliga Konferenz whip-around show for over two decades, DAZN obtained Konferenz rights under the new agreement. Unlike Sky, which televises the games via several distribution methods, DAZN’s Bundesliga rights only cover streaming as an over-the-top (OTT) service provider, with on-demand options included.

From 2025-26 to 2028-29, DAZN subscribers can stream 240 live Bundesliga matches per season in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, an increase from 106 games in the previous contract. All Bundesliga streams are available on Android and iOS mobile devices, computers, and gaming consoles via the official DAZN apps until 2029.

ProSiebenSat1 has the rights to show live football matches from the German Bundesliga on free-to-air television in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

The latest deal agreed between the free-to-air television network and the DFL was signed in December 2024 and runs until the end of the 2028-29 season.

The deal includes nine ‘top’ Bundesliga matches each season, in addition to the opening match of the season, the matches before and after the winter break, the post-season relegation playoffs, and the German Super Cup.

ProSieben’s coverage of the German Bundesliga is housed on Sat.1 on linear TV in the aforementioned territories. Live streaming is available through Joyn, which can be accessed through a web browser and app, which is available for download on iOS and Android devices.

All Bundesliga programming on Sat.1 comes with German-language commentary, interviews and match analysis.

Fans in Germany can watch select free-to-air Bundesliga games live on RTL until the 2028-29 season. While RTL Deutschland secured a lucrative highlights package for its subscription-based RTL+ streaming service ahead of the 2025-26 season, the media company expanded its offering after acquiring Sky Deutschland in April 2026.

Sky Deutschland is the home of the Bundesliga in Germany, holding the rights to the majority of German top-flight games. Following RTL’s acquisition of Sky, the media company announced it would take advantage of the latter’s rights package and begin broadcasting Bundesliga matches on free-to-air TV.

RTL did not disclose the number of Bundesliga games it would broadcast per round upon completing this acquisition. However, it should be noted that the 2025-26 to 2028-29 rights deal permits up to 10 Bundesliga games to be aired for free per season.

German football fans can watch RTL’s live Bundesliga coverage on free-to-air TV without the need for a subscription. However, RTL is still accessible via third-party premium TV providers such as Vodafone Deutschland, MagentaTV, and the acquired Sky. Availability is subject to change.

Additionally, fans in Germany can stream the Bundesliga on the RTL+ app, the broadcaster’s streaming service. RTL+ is a subscription-based platform offering different tiers to its customers, including an ad-free package.

The RTL+ app is compatible with Amazon Fire TV Stick and Box, Telekom MagentaTV set-top boxes, Chromecast, AirPlay, Roku, and major smart TV brands such as LG, Samsung, Hisense, and Panasonic. Likewise, subscribers can download the platform on Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. Viewers who do not wish to download the app can simply stream RTL’s Bundesliga highlights and live match coverage on a PC or Mac by visiting the official RTL+ website.

Sky Deutschland owns German Bundesliga rights in Germany from 2025-26 to 2028-29. The pay-TV broadcaster’s major deal includes both the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2, showing 538 out of 617 matches live, 496 of which are exclusive to Sky subscribers. This makes Sky Deutschland the DFL’s main Bundesliga broadcast partner, with 80% of all matches exclusively. Sky’s deal includes all Saturday afternoon and Friday evening Bundesliga matches and all marquee Saturday night matches. Sky’s sports networks in Germany show all top weekly Bundesliga matches live while also having the rights to extend their coverage to all distribution channels, including satellite, cable, IPTV, and streaming. Live Bundesliga streaming is available via Sky Stream and WOW, and on cable and satellite via Sky Q.

Outside Germany, football fans in Austria, Eastern Belgium, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, and South Tyrol may be able to access Sky’s Bundesliga coverage. Meanwhile, the TV operator provides public licenses to bars, hotels and restaurants for public screenings through the Sky Business solution. Previously, Sky and DAZN’s joint Bundesliga media deal was reportedly worth €1.1 billion per season.

German sports channel Sport1 holds exclusive rights to Bundesliga highlights on free TV in Germany. This broadcast deal runs from the 2025-26 season to 2028-29 and also covers Austria and Switzerland.

As a result, fans in the DACH region can watch highlights of all Friday and Saturday Bundesliga matches on Sport1. The broadcaster airs these highlights on Sundays on free TV, as well as in a simulcast live stream on the SPORT1 app and the network’s SPORT1.de website.

To catch the Bundesliga highlights on Sport1, viewers can tune in to the channel’s “Bundesliga Pur” and “STAHLWERK Doppelpass” shows. The Sport1 linear channel is available for free or through pay-TV providers. Additionally, fans can watch Bundesliga highlights on Sport1 via a PC or Mac by visiting the website or by downloading the Sport1 app on Android and iOS devices.
