About KumdykoliteHide

Formula:
Na(AlSi3O8)
Crystal System:
Orthorhombic
Member of:
Name:
For the type locality.
Polymorph of:
Feldspar Group.
An orthorhombic polymorph of albite. Likely this is a metastable phase formed during rapid crystallization, which can be triggered by supersaturation and/or rapid cooling of a solution from which it precipitates. It has been also recognized as result of fluid-host interaction in hornblende.
