A former lode Au mine/groups of claims located in sec. 6 (NE¼ estimated), T32N, R10W, MDM, 6.6 km (4.1 miles) ENE of Barker Mountain, along Maple Creek, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Sidewinder Volcanic Series (Copley Meta-Andesite and greenstone). The ore body strikes NW and dips 45 to 60NE at a thickness of 0.46 meters. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 9 (Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains). A quartz body on the Dutch Creek group is exposed by the ditch line.
Workings include surface and underground openings. The surface cuts extend for 500 feet along strike. Underground operations include a crosscut-adit 30 feet below surface and 40 feet of drifts. Some stoping was done on the driftas some years earlier. Small millsite is present. kl
