A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in secs. 3, 4, 9 & 10, T19N, R10E, MDM, about 4 km SW of Downieville, N of Rock Creek and S of the North Yuba River, on National Forest land. The property is comprised of 3 quartz (lode) claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Clark lists this mine simply as the Mexican Mine. Microfilm (which ?) gives location as being in the SW¼SW¼ sec. 3 & in the SE¼SE¼ sec. 4. NOTE: The geographic coordinates provided in the USGS MRDS files were adjusted for the exact location of the named mine's adit symbol on the topo map (straddling the line between secs. 3 & 4, along their southern boundaries).

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in amphibolite and Late Permian schist. The ore body is 1.22 meters thick. The vein is 2 to 4 feet thick. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range) and/or Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).

Workings include surface & underground openings with an overall depth 15.24 meters and are comprised of shallow holes on the vein on surface and a 170 foot adit with 40 feet of backs and a second adit 50 feet long, 50 feet deeper (lower ?).

Production data are found in: Logan, Clarence August (1929).
