A B(borate)-As occurrence located in sec. 29, T11N, R6W, SBM, 8.6 km (5.4 miles) NNE of Phelan (7 miles E of Boron). Discovered in 1957. Owned by Tenneco Mining Inc. (1976). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not presented.

Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Tropico Group, Horse Spring Formation (clay, mud, claystone and sandstone). The deposit has upper and lower ore bodies separated by 25 to 50 feet of shale and sandstone. The upper area is 3,200,000 square feet, a depth from surface to the middle of the zone of 715 to 975 feet and a thickness of 0 to 95 feet (50 feet average), and a length/width of 2,300 feet by 1,400 feet. The lower zone area is 3,220,000 square feet, a deopth from surface to the middle of the zone of 775 to 1,150 feet and a thickness of 45 to 175 feet (125 feet average), and a length/width of 2,300 feet by 1,400 feet. Local rocks include Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.

Analytical data results: As values may be similar to adjacent Rho A deposit and thus too high for glass manufacturing.

Reserve-Resource data are found in: Evans, James R. and Anderson, T.P. (1976).

Reserves and resources data: In-situ (estimate year = 1976): Total resources: 4,988,000 metric tons of ore. B(borates), 5 weight percent B.
