A Mn occurrence/claims/prospect located in the S½ sec. 21, T20N, R7E, MDM, 4.6 km (2.8 miles) SSE of Rogerville, on Fields Ridge, on National Forest land (located claim)(NW side of South Fork Feather River). Discovered in 1918. Owned by A. B. Chambers (1974) and operated by Jackson Mullings and A. B. Chambers, Oroville, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in tuff. The ore body strikes NW and dips 90. The ore consists of black manganese oxide-stained metamorphosed red chert bearing sections of seemingly very intimate mixtures of manganese oxide and chalcedonic silica. The chert is frequently cut by veinlets of quartz and pinkish lilac manganese silicate (inesite type). Associated rocks with the chert are meta-tuffs and dense green amphibolite, thought to represent a unit of metamorphosed contemporaneous flows and tuffs. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
This deposit is wholly undeveloped.
