A Ni occurrence located in secs. 2, 3, 9 & 10, T19N, R7E, MDM (UTM approximate), 1.6 km (5,400 feet) WSW of Clipper Mills, WSW of Clipper Mills School and just E of Oroleve (on a ridge between the North Fork Yuba River, and the South Fork Feather River). Discovered in 1955. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Open land subject to jurisdiction of the U. S. Forest Service and ownership by local residents.

Mineralization is hosted in Late Jurassic serpentinite. Lateritic residual soil occurs on a NE-trending ridge underlain by several NW-trending belts of seerpentinite amphibolite (metavolcanic rock) and sedimentary units of the Carboniderous Calaveras Formation. The amphibolite includes hornblende schist, metadiorite, meta-andesite, and metapyroxenite, all of which show some degree of schistosity and foliation. Serpentinite, probably derived from peridotite and pyroxenite, contains talc and minor chlorite and actinolite. The Calaveras Formation here has metamorphosed to slate, quartzite and marble. 80 acres of residual lateritic soil was derived mainly from serpentinite, ranging red to tan in color. Thickness of this layer is unknown. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).

Analytical data results: Surface sample contained 0.17% Ni.
