A former Au mine located in secs. 3 & 10, T5N, R11E, MDM, about 3 km S of Scottsville and about 4½ miles SSE of Jackson, on private land. Holdings consisted of 36 acres. Operated by the Valparaiso Mining Co. Operated prior to 1888 until 1931 and in 1937, then intermittently from 1937 to 1939. Idle since 1939. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in greenstone and slate. Gold occurs in pockets with quartz veins and stringers in greenstone and slate. Controls for ore emplacement included a faulted zone along the contact. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings with a length of 396.24 meters and comprised of an adit 1,300 feet long and a 130 foot winze almost 700 feet from the adit's portal.

Production data are found in: Carlson, D.W. & W.B. Clark (1954).

Produced $100,000 (period values) of Au during the period 1898 to 1931, and $600 (period values) in 1937. Approximately $5,000 (period values) of Au was produced from 1937 to 1939 from small pockets.
