A former Au occurrence/mine located in the NE¼NE¼ sec. 23 & in the NW¼NW¼ sec. 24, T7N, R10E, MDM, about 2.35 km NE of Drytown, S of Dry Creek, on private land. Claim is 10.81 acres and is one of the group acquired by W.F. Detert. Operated by W.F. Detert (estate) (1953). Operated in 1880 and 1884. Worked as early as 1852-1867. Idle in 1876 but subsequently reopened. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains). No geologic description.
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 200 foot shaft and an adit. Partly prospected by the Pocohantas shaft (section 23).
Claim produced $82,000 (period values) near the surface but there are no records to substantiate this. Three crushings of ore were reported to average $3.50 (period values) per ton.
