A orogenic garnet peridotite body 450 x 750 m within the Scandinavian Caledonides located about 3 km NE of Midsund (the center of the municipality with the same name) on Oterøy Island. The Uglvik garnet peridotite is dominantly composed of spinel-harzburgite/dunite interlayered with minor garnet-harzburgite/dunite, clinopyroxene-garnet-harzburgite/dunite and cross-cut by veins of garnet-clinopyroxenite (Cutts 2019).

Cr and V - bearing pyrope from Uglvik are showing an "alexandrite-like effect", having a violette colour in daylight and a winered color in artificial light. These has also been cutted as gems.

Van Roermund et al. (2000) reported evidence for petrographic and mineral chemical characteristics of relict super-silicic (majoritic) garnet microstructure in the in the Uglvik (Uglevik) garnet peridotite.
