It is world-famous for its Lower Paleozoic (Ordovician and Silurian) outcrops dating back more than 430 millon years. It contains very complete stratigraphic profiles of Paleozoic rocks and it stands out for its fossils rich findings of graptolites, brachiopods, and conodonts that allow us to understand early marine life in South America.
