Köppen climate type:
The oil fild, located in valley of the Kama River on the territory of the Yelabuzhsky and Tukayevsky districts, was discovered in 1958 and exploited since 1964. It encompasses an area of 26.5х10 km. The oil-bearing horizons are connected with Upper Devonian sandstones and siltstones.
Crude oil properties: viscosity 6 mPa·s, density 876 kg/m³, sulfur content 1.9%, resin content 1,8%, paraffin content 4.1%.
Due to the inundation of the oil field territory with the Nizhnekamsk Reservoir waters, the wells (more than 200) are situated adjacent to the dam areas and on 5 special foundations.
Hannebachite has been found as white incrustations up to 1 mm thick on oil well equipment as a result of redox reactions caused by mixing of waters rich in sulfates and hydrogen sulfide.
