Coarse-grain calcite carbonatite.

The Haselschacher Buck nature reserve is located in the municipality of Vogtsburg im Kaiserstuhl in Baden-Württemberg.

The area was designated as a nature reserve under the protected area number 3169 by ordinance of the Freiburg regional council of April 11, 1989. The CDDA code is 163542 and corresponds to the WDPA-ID.

The protected area begins around 100 meters east of the Vogtsburg hamlet of Altvogtsburg and belongs entirely to the FFH area No. 7911-341 Kaiserstuhl and also to the bird sanctuary of the same name No. 7912-442 Kaiserstuhl. It is located in the natural area 203-Kaiserstuhl, within the main natural area unit 20-Südliches Oberrheintiefland. ("Southern Upper Rhine Lowland").

According to the Schutzgebietsverordnung (Protected Area Ordinance), the main protective purpose is the preservation of the Haselschacher Buck area. It is a habitat for flora and fauna typical of the Kaiserstuhl, with animal and plant species that are sometimes threatened with extinction, and as an area of outstanding importance for science.
