According to Carne (1908) the mine was known as Coan Copper Mine, on Mineral Lease 33.

A former small underground copper deposit that operated in the early 1900s.
Apparently no known workable or defined ore body was found.

The deposit is located on the south-west side of Coan Peak.

Explored by Kennecott (Aust) Pty Ltd in 1972, and Homestake (Aust) Ltd in 1979.
The deposit was worked via three shallow shafts and several pits over a 350 metre strike on narrow copper bearing quartz veins hosted by rhyodactic crystal vitric tuff.
