Isola di Cèrboli, Provincia di Livorno, Toscana, Italia

Cerboli is a tiny (0.04km²) island in the Strait of Piombino (Channel of Piombino), about 8 kilometres from Elba Island and 6.6 kilometres from Piombino. The island, presently part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, administratively belongs to the comune (municipality) of Rio (Elba Island).

In the south-western part of the island, composed of sedimentary rocks of the Calcare massiccio (Early Lias) and Calcare Rosso Ammonitico (Middle-Late Lias) formations, a limestone quarry was operated since 1927 to supply the ILVA steel plant of Piombino. On the island minor outcrops of Jurassic clayey and marly schists, cherts, and "Scisti Policromi", as well as little bodies of rocks of the Triassic-Hettangian Pseudoverrucano Formation, are also known.

Giuli (1835 and 1843) reported the presence of clear and green crystals of quartz, in veins embedded in reddish limestone, from a cave along the eastern flank of the island.
