One of the original leases of Broken Hill on the line of lode. Owned by G. McCulloch, C. Rasp and D. James.
Later owned by Broken Hill Proprietary Block 10 Company Ltd.
The Mine was taken over by BHP Company in 1924 and then taken over by Broken Hill South Ltd in 1943.
The mine suffered a great deal of underground subsidence that affected mine operations. The subsidence even caused considerable damage to a concentration mill that had been erected on the lease circa 1890 (used to treat sulphide ores). A new mill was built on an adjacent hill in 1903.
The subsidence (mine creep) was to cause further problems for later owners.
The coordinates are approximate for the centre of the original lease.
Several shafts on the Block include Harvey shaft, Kelly shaft, Campbell shaft and No. 2 shaft.
