Mina El Pili NOT La Pili

The Pili Mine lies in low hills just east of the famous Naica Mine in the Municipality of Saucillo in central Chihuahua. Anorthoclase specimens were mined by Benny Fenn in the 1980s until he sold the mine. No work has been done since, largely because the claims lie within a major military reservation and surface access is tightly restricted.

Note: the feldspar here has been variously labelled as sanidine, albite, moonstone and peristerite. The only published analysis of the feldspar from the locality (see references) shows it to be anorthoclase.
