Mesilla del Cura, San Luis, Argentina
19 km from Las Chacras (vehicular access). It can also be accessed on foot or on horseback through El Zapallar. These great elevated pampas of the San Luis mountains were exposed to intense erosion. The islet of Mesilla del Cura has a general height of 1500 meters. At this height, the climate and pressure do not allow the growth of trees or shrubs, only the herbaceous steppes (Stipa, Festuca and Melisa, among others) and some species such as foxtail and swamp grass, form a vegetal carpet that remains green-yellow all year round. There are no trees or shrubs outside the ravines that are protected from the wind.
