All texts group these mines under the Little Bygoo Group. At present the exact locality data for these mines can not be ascertained, and maps show the approximate position of the historic mines.
Historic tin mines, and drilling by modern exploration companies. Modern companies name the area Bygoo North, which looks better to shareholders than Little Bygoo. The area is approximately 10 kilometres north of Ardlethan, and covers several historic workings south of the Humby Road-Bygoo Road intersection. Some of the locations are in woodland, while others are in open wheat paddocks. The area known as Big Bygoo covers several historic workings between the southern most extent of Little Bygoo, and the Ardlethan Tin Mine, which is just north-west of Ardlethan.
Limited geology information indicates the geology is much like the main Ardlethan Tin Mine to the south, just without porphyry. Hosted by biotite Mine Granite and pink to white Ardlethan Granite, altered in places to quartz-tourmaline (schorl-dravite)-topaz rock (greisen), containing cassiterite and sulphides.
The sulphides include pyrite, arsenopyrite, bismuthinite and wolframite, but are rarely mentioned specifically in historical or modern accounts. A mineral matching the koechlinite description has been noted historically in the Ardlethan Tin Field area. The general impression is tin grades are lower than the main Ardlethan field, and metal values erratic.
Ore is found in breccia pipes, veins and stockworks. Mineralised alteration zones are found under the contact with roof zones of granotoids. There is also some alluvial tin derived from nearby hard rock sources. Mineralisation is often found close to joints in granite.
