I’m running a positive campaign to restore decency and honesty to our politics. To build a brighter future. To combat those who want us to become more inward-looking, backward-looking, more self-absorbed. I’ll build a campaign for an outward-looking, forward-looking and compassionate country.
We’ve been misled by a privileged clique who’ve irresponsibly played on fears to stoke prejudice. We must get beyond the Brexit chaos they’ve dragged our country into. We must restore the things that matter for the sake of our children’s future – our NHS, our schools and the very sustainability of our planet.

School and parents have every right to feel proud.
One of the most pleasing parts of this job I’m privileged to hold is to visit local schools and meet young people as they build the foundations for their future.
This week I really enjoyed visiting Mullion School. Though they were kind enough to describe me as a former pupil, I am in fact too old to have been. Though born and brought up in the village, and though two of my younger sisters went to the school, it wasn’t opened till after I graduated from Helston Sixth Form in ‘77.
Thank you everyone at the school who made my visit both memorable and enthralling.

When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.
Inequality has been widening for years.
The wealth of those at the top still increasing, while those who struggle to make ends meet, are finding it harder.
If politicians fail to combat this inequality they fail in their duty...
...as well as risk opening the door to the cynical far-right, who would exploit the justifiable anger of those whose lives have been blighted whilst not having the slightest interest in nor have any plausible answers to their problems.
I've just got back from a busy time at the Liberal Democrats Conference in Brighton. Words from the preamble to our Constitution adorned the stage - "...No-one shall be enslaved by poverty...". Fine words, and I'm pressing my fellow Liberal Democrats to do much more to show we mean what we say. Announcing we'd again raise tax thresholds, taking those million+ on the lowest pay out of income tax altogether, is again welcome, but is only a start. We can and must do much more.
Admittedly, there's little we can do if not in government, but we should prepare responsible policies which I hope will be taken on by those who are, or that we can implement when we get there.
I spoke and answered questions at many meetings with health, housing, food policy and other experts from industry, academia, think-tanks and sector organisations.
Now back to put the theory and talk into practice.

Do you want to help get Cornwall the recognition it deserves?
Well, you have 48 hours to sign this petition.
It may be a small step on the road, but it's an important step.
Whether you self-define yourself as "Cornish" or not, giving Census respondents the right to a 'tick box' rather than a 'write-in' option to say they're Cornish is important.
"Who are the Cornish?" I hear you say.
The answer is of course very straightforward. Just as for those who are Scottish, Welsh, English, Irish or indeed any other national minority/majority ethnicity/people, it's a question of self-definition. Any other definition - blood test, parental/ancestral lineage etc - crumbles when applied.

West Cornwall Healthwatch
Wouldn’t it be better if we spent billions of taxpayers' money helping the thousands of people in housing need rather than handing it in tax loopholes to second/holiday home owners?
Meeting the desperate housing needs of local families was top of the agenda when I held my public meeting in Penzance this weekend. This included strong backing for my Private members' Bill which will come before parliament on 13th November.
Many other matters were raised. From weaknesses in the planning system, poor regulation of Southwest Water and other water companies and the recent attack on the Cornwall Islamic centre.
