Navigate logical layers of code changes, visualize relationships, and explore their blast radius. WalkthroughShared router settings can now be loaded from policy YAML and applied during router setup. Legacy router options emit deprecation warnings. Shared-cache multiplier handling uses an unset value to select the default-policy behavior. Overlap-score responses expose raw cache hits without router-credit calculations. ChangesRouter policy configuration
Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~25 minutes Merge Risk: ๐ต Low ยท up to Router policy settings move into the policy YAML, and legacy flags now warn. During a rolling upgrade, HiCache workers without an explicit multiplier can cause older frontends to stop crediting shared-cache hits. The omitted value is read as 0.0 instead of 0.5, which degrades routing quality until the upgrade completes. The flag reference also lists the decode active-request weight flag twice, with conflicting text. The change is mergeable once the owner serializes a HiCache default or documents the upgrade caveat, and removes the duplicate doc entry. ๐ฅ Pre-merge checks | โ 4 | โ 1โ Failed checks (1 warning)

Previously reported defects still present:
- Original discussion: Still present:
shared_cache_multiplieris serialized withskip_serializing_if = "Option::is_none", so a HiCache config with no explicit multiplier omits the field instead of emitting the legacy0.5value or documenting the rolling-upgrade caveat. - Original discussion: Still present: the frontend configuration docs define
--router-decode-active-request-weighttwice, once in the deprecated policy-parameter section and again under active load and queueing, with only one entry carrying the deprecation notice. - Original discussion: Verified still present: an unset HiCache multiplier is omitted from serialized KvRouterConfig. A v1.3 reader deserializes the missing field as 0.0, disabling shared-cache credit during a rolling upgrade.
- Original discussion: Verified still present: the frontend configuration reference contains two ParamField entries for --router-decode-active-request-weight, with conflicting documentation and duplicate anchors.
- Original discussion: Verified: when HiCache is enabled without an explicit multiplier, the new config omits
shared_cache_multiplier; an older reader defaults that missing field to0.0, disabling shared-cache credit during a mixed-version rollout. - Original discussion: Verified: when
shared_cache_typeishicacheandshared_cache_multiplieris unset, serialization omits the field. Older readers deserialize the missing value as 0.0, disabling shared-cache credit during a mixed-version rollout. Serialize the effective 0.5 HiCache default for compatibility, or document the rollout limitation.

Summary
Follow-up to the merged #14785. Replaces #15183, which closed when its base branch was deleted; this PR targets
main.Move routing configuration into
--router-policy-config:worker_selection.instances[].parameters. The builtin owns the shared-cache multiplier default:0.5when shared cache is enabled. Policy parameters override explicit deprecated CLI/env values, including zero. This also fixes native startup giving YAML-enabled HiCache zero credit while env-enabled HiCache got0.5.routersection. Python validation and Rust startup apply these settings before constructing policies and trackers. Explicit YAML values override legacy flags; omitted values keep their existing settings.--load-aware, and the redundant prefill/decode selection and queue threshold/policy flags, including their environment variables. Their existing behavior and precedence remain available during migration. All Python flag deprecations use one reusable
Deprecated(replacement, remove_in)declaration through the argument helpers. It supplies the same warning format for CLI/env use and help text, including aliases and boolean negative forms. Defaults do not warn. Native Rust env reads use one matching deprecation mapping. Removal comments target v1.7, after the v1.6 YAML migration release; wire compatibility fields keep their separate lifetime. The overlap-query response reports raw cache hits and removes
router_credit_blocks, which was calculated from global weights and could disagree with the active policy.During mixed-version rollouts, workers advertising HiCache routing settings must keep an explicit legacy shared-cache multiplier (normally
0.5) until all frontends support policy-owned defaults. Older readers otherwise interpret the omitted multiplier as zero; the migration guide documents this limitation.Shared infrastructure flags remain supported, including host/disk cache weights because they also affect load accounting. Conditional-disaggregation settings remain separate. The migration guide replaces the load-aware preset with policy parameters and a
routersection in one YAML file.Related: #14778.
Validation
dynamo-kv-routerand the builtin policy crate. Covers shared settings, cached startup loading, null resets, validation, policy parameters, existing selection behavior, and shared-cache defaults/explicit-zero precedence through actual worker selection.msgspec==0.19.0. Covers shared deprecation actions, aliases, CLI/env precedence, YAML settings, and frontend validation. Used the real argument modules in a harness that bypasses unrelated native imports in the groups package initializer.cargo check --locked) passed. The extension was not rebuilt for runtime tests.Summary by CodeRabbit
