This article is hashing up two distinct entities - the Republic of Syria under French Mandate (1930-46) and the independent Syrian Republic (1946-58), which obviously need to be separated, just as State of Greater Lebanon and Lebanon or Mandatory Iraq and Kingdom of Iraq. Article moved

@Danrolo:, could you please explain your move? The article is specifically about the Syrian Republic, an entity that was subsumed into the United Arab Republic in 1958, and when secession happened (1961) it was renamed Syrian Arab Republic (see for example ). Democratic election of Hatay

Hatay and Iskenderun Region have decided to go to an election in order to stay as a independent republic or join to the Turkey. Only the local people have decided to join Turkey. De facto flag of 2024?

From the article: “It was also the flag of the Syrian opposition during the Syrian civil war, and became the de facto flag of Syria anew in 2024.” Is it/did it, though? The colours and patterns are the same, but the aspect ratio is not. The old one, also from this article: “the length shall be double the height”. The new one, from the article on the flag of Syria: “a modified version of the independence flag first used in 1932 with a 2:3 aspect ratio”. Maybe this is just picking nits, but it’s not really the same, is it? More like a remix. :-) --78.23.192.69 (talk) 10:14, 9 December 2024 (UTC)

First and Second Republic
