About

ČT3 history, coverage, features

CT3 is a Czech public television channel owned and operated by Česká televise. The channel was launched on March 20, 2020 as a temporary channel, taking the name of an old television station that used to broadcast until 1993.

The channel was created as an effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, in an effort to entertain senior citizens with documentaries, movies, and repeat broadcasts from old shows. The channel has been made available from the late hours of the evening until the first hours of the following day to facilitate its operation. The channel has made a name for itself with its broadcasts, which have included news, movies, TV series, documentaries, game shows, entertainment programs, and music broadcasts.

Speaking about sports, CT3 may cover some of the content aired on sister channels CT2 and CT Sport in the form of highlights, although no live sports have been aired on this channel.

CT3 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but some pay-tv carriers may offer users the option to watch the channel in High-Definition in some regions of the country.
