Approved, 'Grandfathered' (first described prior to 1959)
IMA status notes:
Redefined by the IMA
IMA Formula:
CaTh4+(PO4)2
First published:
1953
Approval history:
Redefined IMA 05-F: The name cheralite is applied to the members dominated by CaTh(PO4)2 in the system 2(REEPO4) - CaTh(PO4)2 - 2(ThSiO4); the name brabantite is discredited. See Linthout (2007).

Mineral SymbolsHide

As of 2021 there are now IMA–CNMNC approved mineral symbols (abbreviations) for each mineral species, useful for tables and diagrams.

Please only use the official IMA–CNMNC symbol. Older variants are listed for historical use only.
