Formula:
(Na2,Ba,Ca,Sr,Mg,K2)(CO3)
assuming this is a carbonate (as suggested by relatively intense C peak in the XR spectrum); large chemical variations are noticed
Reported as "phase X": a Ba-Ca-Sr-Na-rich mineral, associated with coarse-grained immiscible portion of natrocarbonatite groundmass.
Occurs as irregular patches (30-50 microns in diameter) as: (1) rims of sylvite-gregoryite globules, or (2)rims of nyerereite phenocrystals. May poikilitically include apatite group and neighborite.
XR-EDS (with Super ATW Light Element Detector) results, wt.% (ranges, 8 analyses): FeO not analyzed (n.a.) / not detected (n.d.) - 0.13, MnO n.a./n.d. - 0.37, MgO 0.75-3.72, CaO 6.71-30.75, SrO 5.76-9.10, BaO 18.58-44.83, Na2O 2.36-10.54, K2O 2.18-8.42, La2O3 n.a. - 1.11, Cl 1.01-3.63 (assumed to be coming from the surrounding sylvite), F n.d. - 3.38, total 67.71-78.81.
