Named as iwakiite by Satoshi Matsubara, Akira Kato, Kozo Nagashima in 1978 for Iwaki city which is located near the type locality.
Discredited by IMA in 2018 (Bosi et al. 2018).
Synonym:
A synonym of 'Jacobsite-Q'
Discredited by the IMA in 2019 (Bosi et al., 2019). Now regarded as a tetragonal polymorph of jacobsite, termed as jacobsite-Q.
