Type Occurrence of Nioboixiolite-(Fe2+)Hide

General Appearance of Type Material:
euhedral prismatic crystals up to 50 μm, scattered in lenticular aggregates of Ti,Nb-bearing minerals
Place of Conservation of Type Material:
Type material is deposited in the collections of the Canadian Museum of Nature, PO Box 3443, Station “D”, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, catalogue number CMNMC 90989 (holotype), and the Natural History Museum, University of Oslo, PO Box 1172, Blindern, Oslo, Norway, catalogue number KNR 44454 (cotype)
Geological Setting of Type Material:
In the quarry, serpentinite contains two steeply dipping bodies of calc-silicate rocks running approximately northeast-southwest, with widths of ~20–25 m and ~5 m, traditionally called ‘leucocratic zones’. These bodies are surrounded by discontinuous and tectonically disrupted blackwall schists with a thickness ranging from a few centimetres to about one metre, locally grading into nephritic rocks. The rodingite bodies contain strongly metasomatized leucogranite, dated to approximately 340 Ma.
