UM1981-26-SiO:CaU

This page is currently not sponsored. Click here to sponsor this page.
Formula:
~(Ca,K,Mg)U3Si11O29 (?)
Hardness:
5
One of four Ca-U4+ silicate species from Žirovsky Vrh deposit, Slovenia (and likely also from Forstau, Salzburg, Austria). Corresponds to "Group 5" microprobe analyses. The species occur as irregular to equant grains, black to gray to lighter gray in colour. Associated with coffinite. Compare UM1981-24-SiO:CaU, UM1981-25-SiO:CaU, UM1981-28-SiO:CaU and 'UM1982-17-SiO:CaTiU'.

The chemical analysis total is slighly too low (second analysis after normalization to 100% is given in the abstract) - maybe water is also present?

Compare arapovite - the only approved Ca- and U4+-bearing silicate mineral.
