The Electoral Roll
- To vote in elections in Guernsey you need to register to be included on the electoral roll. To be eligible to register to vote, you must be;
- At least 15 years of age (you won't be able to vote until you're 16);
- Ordinarily resident in Guernsey, and have been so;
- For a period of at least two years immediately preceding date of registration; or
- At any time before date of registration for a period of at least five years in total.
- There are no nationality restrictions surrounding registration on the Electoral Roll.
- If you move house or change your name you will need to tell us, otherwise your details will be incorrect. You can tell us by using the States of Guernsey My Details function here: mydetails.gov.gg/
- Your data will be used in accordance with the Fair Processing Notice available in the download section.
Voting
- By registering onto the Electoral Roll, you will be able to vote in the General Elections as well as in the annual Parish Elections.
Annual Parish Elections
- Annual Parish Elections are held in November. If you wish to stand for election, nominate someone else to stand, or vote for a candidate, you will need to ensure you are registered on the Electoral Roll before the Roll closes.

Credit Referencing
- In Guernsey, the details on the Electoral Roll are not supplied to credit reference agencies.
- To prove that you are on the Electoral Roll, you may request confirmation of your registration from the Electoral Roll Office by completing the form available for download on this page together with a £10 cheque payable to States of Guernsey. Should you wish to pay in person by cash or card, please contact the Cashiers' Office, Edward T. Wheadon House, Le Truchot, St Peter Port (Social Security) and quote codes HM1910 250060 and reference number ER012025. Alternatively, you can call 01481 220015 and quote the same codes and reference numbers to pay securely by card over the phone. Then send the completed form to homeaffairs@gov.gg and you will receive a PDF certificate by email.
- The confirmation of registration will show your details and the date you registered into the current Electoral Roll. Your certificate will be emailed to you.
