Expert MLB moneyline picks for Sept. 26
Pirates vs Tigers: Tigers
Tigers win probability: 56%
Detroit leads baseball over the last two weeks with a 137 wRC+, pairing a .380 on-base percentage with a sharp 3.53 bullpen SIERA. Justin Verlander takes the mound for the final start of his Hall of Fame career at Comerica Park against Lake Bachar. With an emotional home crowd and a Pittsburgh bullpen sporting a 1.34 WHIP and 4.61 ERA across the last 14 days, Detroit gets the nod.
Reds vs Blue Jays: Blue Jays
Blue Jays win probability: 56%
Cincinnati ranks 29th across baseball over the last 14 days with an anemic 70 wRC+ and .267 OBP. Spencer Miles provides steady early frames for Toronto, while their bullpen holds a solid 3.07 ERA and 3.89 SIERA. Cincinnati relievers carry a 4.71 ERA. Toronto is the much sharper side at Rogers Centre.
Mets vs Nationals: Mets
Mets win probability: 55%
The Mets hold a decisive bullpen edge with a 3.00 SIERA, 30.6% strikeout rate, and 0.99 WHIP. Washington ranks 26th in batting with an 80 wRC+ and pairs it with a bullpen walking 13.3% of hitters across their last 14 games. Jonah Tong gets the nod against Jake Irvin, giving New York solid road value.
Dodgers vs Giants: Giants
Giants win probability: 32%
The Dodgers locked in their first-round bye, leaving them with little urgency. Rookie Matt Wilkinson blanked this same Dodgers order over five shutout innings last week. Blake Snell commands massive respect in the market, but San Francisco brings legitimate upset potential in a rivalry clash.
Rangers vs Twins: Twins
Twins win probability: 52%
Texas has slumped through September, posting an 85 wRC+ over the last fortnight, and enters tied for the AL West lead. Bailey Ober gives Minnesota a dependable presence on the hill, backed by a bullpen striking out 27.3% of batters with a 3.56 SIERA. The Twins are in a good spot to play spoiler in Minneapolis.
Braves vs Marlins: Marlins
Marlins win probability: 51%
Atlanta is locked into the NL No. 3 seed after Thursday’s results and has nothing to play for in the standings. Sandy Alcantara takes the bump for Miami, and their bullpen has been rolling during the past two weeks (26.2% strikeout rate, 3.54 SIERA). Miami brings strong starting pitching upside against a resting Atlanta squad.
Guardians vs Royals: Guardians
Guardians win probability: 54%
Cleveland is in an all-out sprint for the AL Central title and a crucial first-round bye. Tanner Bibee takes the mound against Michael Wacha. Kansas City’s bullpen has struggled with a 5.08 ERA and 1.47 WHIP over the past two weeks, while Cleveland’s bullpen ranks third in MLB (2.99 SIERA, 31.3% strikeout rate). Cleveland holds huge motivational and bullpen advantages that should carry them to victory.
Rockies vs White Sox: Rockies
Rockies win probability: 41%
Chicago clinched their postseason spot Thursday and is nursing a tired pitching staff. Jose Quintana provides veteran experience against Davis Martin. Colorado hits .275 over the last two weeks, making the Rockies an appealing live underdog against a vulnerable White Sox rotation.
Cardinals vs Brewers: Cardinals
Cardinals win probability: 51%
Milwaukee clinched the NL No. 1 overall seed on Thursday, meaning their priority is health rather than chasing regular-season wins. Dustin May has been yanked inside of three innings in back-to-back starts and will likely be on a short leash again. Quinn Mathews takes the ball for St. Louis, making the Cardinals a live road dog against a coasting Brewers club.
Cubs vs Red Sox: Red Sox
Red Sox win probability: 51%
The Cubs clinched their postseason berth Thursday behind Pete Crow-Armstrong, while Boston’s bullpen has been stingy with a 1.56 ERA, 3.79 SIERA, and zero home runs allowed over the last fortnight. Matthew Boyd starts for Chicago, giving Boston a favorable spot at Fenway Park to take down a Cubs lineup with its playoff ticket punched.
Rays vs Phillies: Phillies
Phillies win probability: 52%
Tampa Bay runs out Griffin Jax as an opener in a planned bullpen day. Tampa ranks 24th in wRC+ and managed just a .225 batting average over the last two weeks. Philadelphia is fighting to secure a wild-card seed and has the superior lineup against a taxed Tampa relief corps.
Diamondbacks vs Padres: Diamondbacks
Diamondbacks win probability: 53%
Arizona has won five straight games to keep their postseason hopes alive and sends Corbin Burnes to the mound in a must-win scenario against Walker Buehler. Arizona ranks third in MLB over the last two weeks with a 128 wRC+ and .500 slugging percentage. Expect Arizona's bats and bullpen to show up with full urgency.
Astros vs Athletics: Astros
Astros win probability: 58%
Tied with Texas for the AL West crown, Houston holds the tiebreaker and cannot afford to let off the gas. Hayden Wesneski starts against Jack Perkins. Houston’s offense is slugging .463 over the last two weeks, while the Athletics bullpen carries a 1.55 WHIP and 5.62 FIP during that same span. Houston is in a good spot to seize the division.
Angels vs Mariners: Angels
Angels win probability: 40%
Both teams send young, unproven arms to the mound in the final game of the night. Neither starter has a long track record, which creates plenty of room for an unpredictable game. Los Angeles has received steady relief pitching lately, posting a neat 3.97 SIERA and 3.99 FIP over the past two weeks. Seattle is getting too much public credit, giving the Angels great value to pull off the road upset.
