- Hotwire is all the tricks and tooling we used to build the front-end for hey.com. A refinement of years of research, experimentation, and SHIPPING HTML AT THE CENTER. It's been a revelation for us. Both for the web, and for our native apps.The HEY stack: - Vanilla Ruby on Rails on the backend, running on edge - Stimulus, Turbolinks, Trix + NEW MAGIC on the front end - MySQL for DB (Vitess for sharding) - Redis for short-lived data + caching - ElasticSearch for indexing - AWS/K8SThis has been a huge team effort at Basecamp. The JavaScript work has predominately been done by @sstephenson and @javan, the native adapters by @zachwaugh and @jayohms, the visual identity by @AdamStddrd. Turbo Streams look awesome and I can't wait to get my hands on these new concepts to try them out myself. One question though, what's the strategy for handling situations where WebSockets are a point of failure?
