Skills &
Expertise
I craft digital experiences using a curated stack of modern technologies. From scalable backends to pixel-perfect frontends, here is the machinery powering my work.
C++
What is it?
High performance language widely used for systems programming.
Where I used it
Built TransitFlow a terminal CLI transport system with custom auth hashing, file-based storage, and ASCII UI, written in pure C++ without STL containers.
JavaScript
What is it?
Core language of the web for creating interactive and dynamic experiences.
Where I used it
Foundation for every frontend and backend project in my stack, underpinning TypeScript across Next.js and NestJS codebases.
Tailwind CSS
What is it?
Utility-first CSS framework for rapidly building beautiful user interfaces.
Where I used it
Styles this portfolio's neo-brutalist aesthetic and the claymorphic UI redesign of Shopit.
TypeScript
What is it?
Strongly typed JavaScript that catches errors early and improves code quality.
Where I used it
Primary language across my entire stack — NestJS, Next.js, and every backend/frontend project I ship.
Next.js
What is it?
React framework for building fast and SEO-friendly web applications.
Where I used it
Powers this portfolio site (App Router, custom CMS, EXIF photo gallery) and the frontend of Shopit and Digital Khata.
NestJS
What is it?
Progressive Node.js framework for building scalable, structured backend APIs.
Where I used it
Backend for Shopit and Digital Khata, using schema-per-tenant PostgreSQL, Prisma, and Redis for multi-tenant SaaS architecture.
Node.js
What is it?
JavaScript runtime for building fast, scalable server-side applications.
Where I used it
Runs every backend service I've built, from NestJS APIs in Shopit to custom scrapers and WhatsApp bill dispatch in Digital Khata.
GIT
What is it?
Distributed version control system for tracking code changes and collaboration.
Where I used it
Used across every project in my stack, from TransitFlow to Shopit, for branching, history, and solo/team workflows.
GitHub
What is it?
Cloud platform for hosting Git repositories and collaborating on code.
Where I used it
Hosts all my public and private repos, including TransitFlow, and manages PRs for open-source contributions.
PostgreSQL
What is it?
Powerful open-source relational database for structured, reliable data storage.
Where I used it
Core database for Shopit and Digital Khata, using a schema-per-tenant model to isolate merchant data.
Prisma
What is it?
Type-safe ORM for Node.js and TypeScript, simplifying database access.
Where I used it
Handles all database queries and migrations in Shopit's schema-per-tenant PostgreSQL setup.
Redis
What is it?
In-memory data store used for caching, sessions, and fast data access.
Where I used it
Powers caching and session management across Shopit and Digital Khata for low-latency lookups.
Docker
What is it?
Platform for developing, shipping, and running applications in containers.
Where I used it
Deploys my self-hosted projects on Oracle Cloud ARM, orchestrated with Coolify and Traefik for reverse proxying.
Linux
What is it?
Open-source operating system powering servers, development, and infrastructure.
Where I used it
Runs my entire self-hosted stack on Oracle Cloud ARM, and my daily-driver dev environment (GNOME + custom theming).
Kafka
What is it?
Distributed event-streaming platform for high-throughput data pipelines.
Where I used it
Handles real-time event pipelines in Shopit's analytics layer, feeding data into ClickHouse.
Professional Experience
Solo Full Stack Developer
Jun 2024 — PresentBuilt and shipped 10+ production projects including Shopit SE (multi-tenant e-commerce, NestJS + Kafka + PostgreSQL), Nikkah App (AI face clustering, shipped in 24hrs), GSMArena Scraper (10k+ devices, Typesense), and Authn (open-source auth system).
SELECTED WORK
View All Projects →A tenant billing system that took 2 days to build and 3 months to get anyone to actually use.
GITHUB ACTIVITY
@hanan-bhattiEXPERIMENTS & SIDE BUILDS
Li'nage
A line-level version control system with granular blame, pluggable diff algorithms, and AI-assisted commit tracking — built from scratch in C#.
Authn
Open-source authentication system because I got tired of rewriting login flows for every project. Built once, used everywhere. (Discontinued superseded by project-specific auth implementations.)
WRITING
All Posts →I Overengineered a Whole System for Four Electricity Bills
She asked for four numbers on paper. I gave her IndexedDB, retry queues, and a hand-drawn invoice renderer. Then she still made me write the bills by hand. This is a story about solving the wrong problem extremely well.
From a Question to a Product: I Built the Same App Twice
Not every project starts with a business plan. This one started with a question I couldn't stop thinking about and I ended up building the answer twice.
