This is the WinUI 3 release that ships as part of Windows App SDK 2.5 Experimental. It adds code-based theme resource bindings and DataTemplate construction, the experimental TableView and Chart controls, expanded inking support, and WinUI reliability fixes.
What's new
- Theme resource binding from code. The experimental
FrameworkElement.SetThemeResourceBindingAPI lets apps create the equivalent of a{ThemeResource}binding programmatically. - Delegate-based
DataTemplateconstruction. A new experimentalDataTemplateconstructor accepts an app-provided delegate that creates the template's element subtree. TableViewandChartcontrols.TableViewadds grouping, sorting, filtering, resizable columns, and templated headers. The newChartcontrol presents Cartesian data as line, area, and bar series with configurable axes, legends, labels, and markers.- Inking updates. New custom drying APIs let apps render committed ink themselves, and
InkToolbarnow targets anInkPresenterdirectly. - Reliability improvements. This release fixes inking sizing and custom drying issues, reduces resource-related memory growth, and improves cleanup of unreachable native WinUI objects in .NET apps.
