v0.10 - Metamorphosis
This is a big one, so will likely be bug-infested πͺ². Hopefully I will keep the next releases smaller for my sanity.
Application Updates
Invisible yet Major Changes
- Complete Migration to WinUI3 - Rebuilt the selector window from scratch and merged it with Hurl Settings.
- Self-Contained Builds, with Native AoT
- No longer need to install .NET and Windows App Runtimes. Just install Hurl installer and you are good to go.
- Takes up to 80MB of disk space (2x Increase, a necessary sacrifice)
- Refactor code to use Dependency Injection and MVVM
- Update to .NET 10, WinAppSDK 2.5
Features and Enhancements
- Quick View, A new addition to quickly preview/launch URLs without selector - Simply Hold "Alt" when clicking on a link or click on the quick view button in the selector window to preview the URLs in a built-in WebView2 window. Or You can customize to open it in your favorite browser.
- Full Browser Management from Settings - Create, edit, update, reorder browsers from the settings window
- Browser Icon Customization - Choose from local images, via Image URL or choose from the executable embedded icons, with this new UI.
- More Control over browser refresh - Preserve existing and find new installed browsers in the system or Append all detected.

Fixes
- lmprove reliability for links not opening into Hurl π€ (like when opening from Steam etc.)

Launcher.exeproxy binary and instead link clicks directly trigger the new Hurl app. - Also, Thanks to WinAppSDK's single instancing application APIs, Hurl launches as fast as before.
- Removed the
- Other minor fixes, that I don't remember
Breaking Changes / Removed Stuff
Also check out the UserSettings JSON Schema file if you want to fix your old settings file manually.
- Browsers, Launch profiles and rulesets now have persistent uuid's to refer to them.
- Yes, AlternateLaunches is now renamed to Launch Profiles
- So instead of relying on the browser name to find a browser, hurl now uses it's
Id. - So even after renaming your browser, your rules won't break.
- Removed Glob rules, they are not made for matching URLs
- Removed support for UWP browsers/apps
- Removed Timed Default feature - This will be back soonβ’
- Removed
NoWhiteBorderoption andSolidBackground option CustomIconPathis now ignored and replaced by the newIconproperty. Handled by the new Browser Icon Customization feature.- The main executable to launch hurl is now
Hurl.exeinstead oflauncher.exe
If you are updating from the previous versions,
- Uninstall the previous version and then install the newer version again.
- You might have to remap the rulesets with the browsers again

Note
