Glyph origin
[edit]Phono-semantic compound (形聲 / 形声, OC *l'iɡ): semantic 禾 (“grain”) + phonetic 失 (OC *hliɡ). It originally referred to rice plants being piled up in order, and by extension, conveys the idea of "sequence" or "order."[1]
