Usage notes

• (astronomy): ⟨♇⟩ has only rarely seen formal use since the reclassification of Pluto as a dwarf planet in 2006. ⟨⯓⟩ has seen rare use for Pluto as a dwarf planet.

• (astrology): Both ⟨♇⟩ and ⟨⯓⟩ are common. ⟨♇⟩ is universal, due to its early standardization in astronomy, but while astrological use of ⟨⯓⟩ is global, it is not the preferred symbol in many European countries. (See ⯓ for astrological synonyms.)
