There are two main methods of installing VLC Media player on Debian, either from Debian upstream repositories or from the snap package.
Install VLC Media Player on Debian from Apt
For the installation of VLC from the apt repositories, update your system and install VLC using the commands below.
sudo apt update
sudo apt install vlcThe installation above doesn’t guarantee the latest package. You may consider installing from a snap for a more recent package release.
Install VLC on Debian via snap
First start by installing snapd on Debian system.
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snap snapdThen use snap to install VLC on Debian 10.
sudo snap install vlcLaunch VLC from CLI or Applications search menu.
